Dr. Mehmet Köse

Vice President of the Food Safety Board

Born in 1959, Mehmet Köse completed his high school education at Istanbul Erkek Lisesi – İstanbul High School (İEL) and graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1984. Mehmet Köse completed his compulsory service in Konya between 1984-1986 and worked in the Emergency department of Şişli Etfal Hospital until 1992.

Köse, who took his first step as a part-time doctor at Yıldız Holding in 1990, conducted academic studies at International Islamic University in Malaysia from 1992-to 1994. After Malaysia, he returned to Yıldız Holding and started to work on occupational health, occupational safety, food safety, and occupational medicine.

He was assigned by Yıldız Holding’s Chairman of the Board of Directors to establish the Food Safety Board in 2008. In the same period, he initiated several projects, e.g. human resources and education company, an organisation that manages market activity personnel, authorised internationally accredited laboratory companies from the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, he has worked as a founder and manager in many NGOs. Some of these are: Hayat Sağlık ve Sosyal Hizmetler Vakfı, Sabri Ülker Food Research Foundation, İlim Yayma Foundation and Milli Kültür Vakfı.

He served as the Chairman of the Food Safety Board until he transferred his duty to İbrahim Taşkın in 2016. He currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Food Safety Board.
