What Does Halal Have To Do With The Chocolate and Biscuits Industry?

Halal is a way of life that preserves life as it should be. Eat good food and drink safe, high-quality, and wholesome. The Arabic term “Halal” means permissible. Permissible here also reflects the nature of maintaining homeostasis (in biology, a natural or pure state of the body without external harm). Hence, Halal does not mean the slaughtering of meat in a literal sense – it is actually a myth. The broader perspective is why it is crucial to implement and practice Halal correctly within the chocolate and biscuits industry.

It is also the exact text in the religious book:

‘’And eat of what Allah (God) has provided for you (which is) lawful and good. And fear Allah (God), in whom you are believers’’ 5:88

What are the examples of external harms to human well-being?

– Firstly, Halal does not permit the excessive use of raw materials or ingredients, such as additives, beyond the limits set in the Codex Alimentarius, an international food standard established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

– In a nutshell, these limits represent the maximum levels of food or ingredient intake that the human body can safely tolerate, as determined by authoritative scientific bodies such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Europe and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Again, it has to be safe, no toxic, poisonous or intoxicating substances.

– Halal food cannot exist without a proper food safety system and ensuring that food and drink manufacturing facilities operate in a clean operating environment. These harmful elements contribute to making a product that is inappropriate and impermissible for consumers.

So, what does it mean for an organization such as Yıldız Holding?

– All of the consumable products must be prepared in a hygienic manner and in a clean environment.

– Food & Drink are produced according to Food Safety & Defense standards, GMP, Regulations, and other relevant industry standards.

In essence, the Halal industry, through its Halal integrity controls, includes checks for the use of harmful substances, animal derivatives, cross-contamination, and chemical substances that contaminate and endanger, or interrupt, human life’s biological reactions, vitality, or decision-making.
